The main ingredient of Sculptra is Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA). PLLA is a fully biodegradable, biocompatible material that is completely absorbed and broken down by the human body, ensuring extremely high safety.

1. Initial Injection: Immediately after injection, there is a temporary plumping effect (primarily due to the sterile water used for reconstitution). Within 1–2 days, the water is absorbed, and the area temporarily returns to its original state.

2. Stimulation Phase: PLLA microspheres remain in the deep dermis and periosteal layer, triggering a mild, harmless immune response that activates fibroblasts.

3. Gradual Regeneration: Over the following 1–3 months, your body continuously produces its own Type I and Type III collagen to replenish lost structural support.

4. Natural Metabolism: PLLA is eventually metabolized by the body into carbon dioxide and water, which are excreted, leaving behind your newly formed collagen structure.
