Details
① Bone Resection
Based on preoperative 3D-CT measurements of the alveolar bone and the degree of maxillary and mandibular protrusion, excess bone in the upper or lower jaw is precisely resected to correct skeletal dentofacial protrusion. Only the surplus bone is removed while preserving the normal occlusal skeletal structure.
② Bone Repositioning
After osteotomy, the protruding upper and lower jaws are moved posteriorly as a unit to adjust the anteroposterior distance of the facial profile. This fundamentally reduces the forward protrusion of the lips while simultaneously aligning the occlusal relationship between the upper and lower teeth.
③ Lip Contour Correction
Following skeletal repositioning, the lip shape and corner-to-lip ratios are meticulously adjusted to address secondary issues such as inability to close the mouth, lip protrusion at rest, and deep nasolabial folds, optimizing lip contour both statically and during smiling.
